So... Who is this person, this actor? What does the name coach means?
There are different names given by differente people... The names like mentor, guide, teacher by the ones that understand the environment and the context of the role, and they are the ones that think that the coach is an idiot, a stupid person, an incompetent, and some many pretty words that go out...
This second ones are the parents of course, as they like to point, to criticize to judge the coach and to asses his trainnings and ways of work without understanting the context and the "why" of things.
Nobody will ever be happy as the coach is not able to make everybody happy.
Every decision, every blink, every action will always be asses and pointed every time.
This are the parents of young players that are eager to become the future stars of the world, this are the teenagers that want to become the ronaldos and messis of the universe, but because of higher powers (parental guidance) they enter the trainnings already with the wrong mindset as the "parents" what them to achieve what they were not able to achieve when they had their age... They want their kids to grow fast and win rivers of money, without thinking if their kids have the potencial, have the skills and most of all want to do it as they are told.
The role of the coach is to enable good things and make them grow, understant the game and how it should be played without bias, integrating everyone as one team... But the education must come from home... the good examples must come from home as it's the only way to work together for their success.
People (parents) do not get it... but not only parents, some clubs don't get it as they listen to "complaints" about technical things they don´t understand, because they complaint about the minutes their kids played, because they see things nobody else is able to see and go blind in this obcesion.
And the clubs of course... they are eager for money and they don´t want to lose players because of false acusations or complaints, they see only winnnings in this part and the weakeast link will always be the manager or coach that does this "job" almost for peanuts and can be released at any time without any justification... Without feedback... without support as the law of the mob is stronger that the will.
At this age is not about results...the work of the coach is to manage egos from kidsm from parents, from boards and try to have some harmonie if posible between parts to achieve some success.
But that most of the times is a mission impossible.
And the effort, dedication, will, trust and confidence from the coach is putted on the chopblock ready to be questioned and doubted.
Bounderies and limites at the start of each seasson should be established so the seasson can run with no noise and no doubts and goals should be agreed so that only at the end we can review and asses what was done, always with respect.
This is just a game to learn and to be happy but the dreams and expectations not accurate enough to be able to have a clear view of what the reality is.
